MH Boxes is rooted in the lived experiences of the community it serves. Founded by Mila, a 12-year-old who has personally faced mental health challenges, the organization is guided by the insights and perspectives of those who understand these issues firsthand. This community-led approach ensures that our programs and services are relevant, effective, and responsive to the needs of Black adolescent girls.
MH Boxes is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the mental health and well-being of Black adolescent girls. We recognize the unique mental health challenges faced by this demographic and strive to create a supportive, stigma-free environment where these girls can thrive. Our multifaceted approach focuses on distributing care boxes and fostering peer support networks.
We distribute mental health toolboxes filled with carefully curated coping tools, educational materials, and self-care items. Each care box provides practical support for managing mental health challenges. These boxes include journals, stress-relief toys, inspirational books, and other resources promoting self-care and resilience. By giving these care boxes, we aim to equip Black girls with the tools they need to navigate their mental health journeys effectively.
We facilitate peer support networks where participants can share their experiences, offer mutual support, and engage in open discussions about mental health. These networks provide a safe space for Black girls to connect with others who understand their struggles and can offer empathy and encouragement. Through peer support efforts, we foster community and solidarity, helping participants feel less isolated and more supported in their mental health journeys.
Our mission is unwavering. We are dedicated to making a meaningful impact in the lives of young Black girls facing mental health challenges. We are committed to erasing the stigma associated with mental health conditions, fostering open conversations, and providing peer support. By addressing the unique mental health needs of Black girls, we strive to empower them to achieve their full potential.
Through our comprehensive programs and initiatives, MH Boxes is dedicated to creating a supportive and understanding environment for Black girls. We believe that by providing practical tools, fostering open dialogue, and building a strong community, we can make a lasting impact on the mental health and well-being of Black adolescent girls. Your support and involvement are integral to our mission.
