$2,500 goal

For this year's Day of Black Giving, help WCRJ meet our goal of raising $2500!

Funds we raise through this year's Give 8/28 Day of Black Giving will go towards our non-partisan Black voter engagement programs in Wisconsin and Illinois. Right now, our Inclusive Democracy Team is out talking with residents across both states about the issues that they care about, how they connect to the upcoming elections, and why it is so important for Black voters to participate in electoral decision-making. We'll help people make sure they're registered, figure out their polling places, and make plans for voting on election day.

Our goal is to increase turnout among Black voters, fight voter suppression and intimidation, and build lifelong civic participation among residents of the communities we serve!

We're also building a powerful team of formerly incarcerated leaders to ensure that formerly incarcerated people (FIPs) know their voting rights, and connect voting to the ongoing fight for FIP civil rights. In Wisconsin in particular, FIPs on parole/probation remain disenfranchised even after release, and often don't know when their right to vote is restored. WCRJ makes sure eligible voters know that they can vote, but we also engage those who can't currently vote: through our My Voice, Your Vote program, we organize disenfranchised FIPs to make sure their friends and family vote when they themselves can't.

As our team of Democracy protectors grows, we're also building a larger campaign to return voting rights to all FIPs in Wisconsin.

ABOUT WCRJ

Workers Center for Racial Justice organizes Black workers and their families to address the root causes of high rates of unemployment, low-wage work and over-criminalization harming Black communities. Through organizing, policy advocacy, leadership development and voter engagement, we are building a caring economy and society that allow Black people to reach our full human potential.
